Kokedama (苔玉), meaning “moss ball” in Japanese, is a plant styling technique where a plant’s roots are wrapped in soil and moss rather than placed in a traditional pot. The result is a sculptural, living form that can rest in a vessel or dish, or even be suspended in the air. Part gardening and part art, kokedama is a simple, tactile way to bring plants into your space.
In this hands-on workshop, Sam will guide you through the process of building your own kokedama from start to finish. You’ll learn how to prepare the soil, wrap and shape your plant, apply moss, and care for your finished piece.
